The venue, the Cape Town Waterfront – one of the main tourist attractions in the city. It’s a large venue with plenty of options around which can be intimidating but inspiring at the same time.
I’d shot there before so had an idea of where I wanted to be – except that shoot was using the light of the early morning and with this shoot I was going to try and use the night lights of the Waterfront.
Cait is a professional ballet dancer with Cape Town City Ballet. This was the first time we were going to meet each other, let alone do a shoot together. So let’s see, dark venue. Check. Unknown dancer. Check. Cool, we’re all set.

As soon as I met Cait I knew we would hit it off and come up with some great ideas and collaborations together. She was an absolute legend to work with and would constantly keep attempting shots over and over again until we got the one we were looking for.
The results were some of my favourite photo’s I’ve captured and it lead to another collaboration between Cait and I a few months later.
